I’ve consistently posted early on Thursday mornings. I did so again this morning but only sent the post to paid subscribers.
Fundamentally, I don’t write for the money. I’m not much of a businessman. I posted for over two years before I offered paid subscriptions. Ultimately, I net just a few more dollars/hour writing than I would by working at Home Depot. To remind myself not to spend too long on each post, I wear an orange vest when I write.
Not really, but I should. I spend way too much time revising my stuff before I post it.
I want paid subscribers to know that, as a way of thanking you for your support, I sent you a post this week that I didn’t send to unpaid subscribers.
I want unpaid subscribers and followers to know that I’ll post again next week. And that you missed a post that a high percentage of readers are liking.
I’ve devoted a bunch of time over the past couple of months compiling and editing a Scamdemic anthology, which includes some unposted stories. I finished the substance of this book about a month ago. Formatting and other details are taking more time than I would like, especially as I’m relying on someone for tech support and they don’t get back to me as quickly as I’d like.
Bottom line: I hope to submit a final version to the publisher in the next five days.
Please bear with me and continue to speak out against the mania.
Although not a paid subscriber Mark, I do look forward to what I know is really hard work for pennies; I do want to purchase your book because of your remarkable ability to communicate so eloquently about your experiences particularly since I started to read your work . As a cranky old lady from Canada with so many people needing funding to fight this mafia like take over , my limited resources have to be considered . Having said that , will I be able to see when your book is for sale ? I love to read , particularly hard copies where I can still use my $ 2.50 magnifiers and not worry about my eyes after what seems like hours with computer reading . Thank you Mark and it has been a privilege to read your thoughts on many issues.
As a writer and artist I can certainly understand wanting to be paid.
As someone struggling and looking for work (also a struggle) and waiting for my tax return (week 5), so I can actually start a bank account, and not worry about gas for the car, and enough other hellish stuff to stiffen a wet noodle, I can also understand not having the bucks to support anybody, much less all the fine writers on SS...
So don't take it personally, okay? Glad you can make as much as Home Depot would pay! Want a copy editor? I rock, seriously.
Just KEEP WRITING. Whatever, don't get all questioning yourself, JUST WRITE. ^_^
Trying to keep a sense of humor, me.
