I don’t like to write about politics. Among other reasons, it’s an endless task and I don’t want to write endlessly. Besides, plenty of people do write endlessly about politics and at least a few of them are likely already saying what I would say.
Nonetheless, I can’t help but express disappointment that Trump will win the Republican primary without being held accountable, facing criticism or apologizing for his Coronavirus overreaction. I don’t care that Trump fans will dislike my criticism and will stop reading what I write. I don’t write to maximize views. I write to tell the truth and because, unlike the “stable genius,” Trump, and his March, 2020 Covid adviser, Tucker Carlson, I saw this Scam from Day 1 and I wanted those who also saw it to know they weren’t alone.
Without Trump showing his scientific ignorance in March, 2020, freaking out about a respiratory virus and spending on it like a drunken sailor, the Scamdemic never would have gotten traction. Trump had branded himself as an outsider who could discern foolishness when he saw it and make the Buck Stop There. But instead of Draining the Swamp, in March, 2020, Trump handed over the management of society to the test-manic dilettante, Mike Pence, and the Swamp Creatures in the Public Health and Defense establishments.
Instead of locking down public spaces, we’d have been better off in 2020 locking down the federal public health bureaucracy and military/biosecurity apparatus. Doing so would have stopped the spread of stupidity and corruption.
When a serious, smart, strong leader would have said, “We don’t shut down countries because some old, sick people are said to have died from a virus in China, Italy and Spain,” Trump called Fauci, Birx, Redfield and Collins “geniuses” before passing the mic, and deferring, to these phony, evil bureaucrats and their behind-the-scenes military/biosecurity counterparts.
By foolishly legitimizing the notion that a virus warranted an Emergency Order and by authorizing the expenditure of trillions of dollars to subsidize a societal and economic coma, Trump allowed his political opponents to hijack the country. When a steady hand was needed, he germophobically labeled an unscary virus “The Plague.”
Many support Trump because they want to avenge a stolen election. But Trump facilitated such theft. By legitimizing and subsidizing Covophobia, he enabled the Democrats to institute mail-in voting and cut his own political throat. It’s not clear how much he’s done since 2020 to reform voting rules or to modify logistics.
While Trump fans can’t say “the past is past, let’s move on” regarding elections, it’s odd that so many, including Trump backers, insist we must all “move on, Covid’s over” and thus, gloss over his, and their, senseless support for unprecedented, theatrical lockdowns.
For extra bad effect, Trump’s petulance during the first 2020 debate reminded many people why they disliked him. Though it’s hard to believe that anyone could make himself look bad in relation to the witless, frail, compulsive liar, Biden, Trump allowed that to happen. I’ve also never understood the appeal of Trump’s rambling, repetitive, self-promoting and name-calling speeches. He’s an odd guy around whom to build a cult of personality. If you had a neighbor like him, you’d call him a blowhard.
His personal failings could be overlooked if he had come through when it mattered. But his character flaws remain evident. He’s learned nothing.
Trump promoted and has repeatedly claimed credit for injections that were not only unnecessary but harmful. Showing no remorse, he continues to lie that the shots saved hundreds of millions of lives and acts as if he doesn’t know that the shots have injured or killed hundreds of thousands.
Trump against Biden, Round II, is a nightmare: two individuals who are too old, too dishonest, too undisciplined and too unthoughtful to be running anything. The Dems seem likely replace their old liar before November, leaving Trump as the old man out.
In a national election, one person’s vote is unimportant. This is even truer in the Electoral College system, in which most states reliably vote for the same party. And who knows if a given vote is counted or, if it is, how many fake ballots offset it. Voting exists because elections are a mega-profitable industry and because, at least superficially, elections legitimize governments. Voting also gives individuals a sense of satisfaction for “doing their part,” even though “their part” is far more about what they do and support by their daily actions and purchases than it’s about the candidates whom they select once every few years.
I won’t be satisfied to vote for anyone—including Trump—who orchestrated or fell for the Covid overreaction. It will please me more to vote for a third-party candidate untainted by Covid malpractice. Trump performed poorly when it mattered most. His Corona blunders caused massive, lasting harm. They can’t be forgotten.
I will begin with the fact that I am 80 years old and have had many, many health issues in my lifetime including having a splenectomy which, according to all of the rhetoric, would indicate that I would never have had a chance in making it through the Plandemic. I did. I was called Typhoid Mary; there are family members who still don't talk to me, but I made choices based on what I had read and common sense and decided there wasn't enough research done to trust the vax. There certainly was enough information out there to inform people. There are some issues with Trump - I agree - but - he didn't take a salary during his presidency which means he couldn't be bought - he didn't need the money. People had hope and the reason people follow him, in my humble opionion, is because he brings back a feeling of a patriotic America which seems not to exist in the Woke generation. It may be just a dream we have of an America that we love, but watching the people gathering together and waving the American flag is what is drawing people toward him. Now that the current presidency has allowed over 10 million illegal people to enter our country, it seems that the American Dream is going down the tubes. We're overrun with people who we have no idea who they are and they are still coming in by droves. Do a little research with JLR Investigates and watch what is happening. People seem to have no clue, and isn't it time that we all take personal responsibility for our choices. If people would have just said "No," I'm not wearing your silly mask, I'm not closing my business, I'm not walking down an arrow on the supermarket floor, or any of the other riduculous things they imposed we wouldn't be in this mess. Why did so many people just go along with the nonsense? It's we the people who could have made a difference, but the sheep just did what they were told. To be honest, it blew my mind how easy it was for them to control evryone. Don't blame Trump or anyone else; if evryone said "no" what could they do?????
Mark I agree with you on principle. I too wish Donald Trump would apologize for his Covid missteps. But I keep going back to the fact that he did almost everything he said he would do as president. Lest we forget, we have three new conservative Supreme Court Justices, energy independence (at the time), and a partial wall on the border. He had the growing respect of minorities and I firmly believe there would not be a war in Ukraine had he remained president. I support RFK, Jr. in many areas but he is generally too liberal for me. No candidate is perfect. What we need is a populace that is better informed and willing to muster the chutzpah to push back against the tyranny. Individually, we are responsible.
