Friend, I’m really hoping that Christmas meetup works out. 🙏 My husband is mostly on the same page as me/you. He’s definitely pro-freedom and anti-mandate, but he’s also a firm believer in the vaccine and he doesn’t despise masks like I do. He’s a lawyer too and most of the people he interacts with in his area of law are doctors and loyal followers of “The Science.” Would love to have you guys chat. :)
His personal reason for taking the vaccine is because he's on immunosuppressants for a rare eye condition that could lead to blindness. He waited until just this last month to get vaxxed after his Dr. had time to evaluate others in his cohort. Apparently Covid leads to flares in 10% of ppl with his same condition. In his case, a flare could cause vision loss or blindness, so that is why he opted to take the vaccine. As a business owner, the primary provider for our immediate family, and for many others who rely on his ability to work ... he thought it was the wisest decision based on his known risks and his Dr.'s counsel. But yes, he's generally pro-vax and would fully support me getting too despite having zero risk factors (I'm 40).
I understand, then, why he did it. I don't understand why fully healthy people would do it. There is not much, if any, reward.
And there is risk.
I visited my 93 year old Mom last night. Sure, she's old but was doing well until she vaxxed in April. Shortly thereafter, she had a severe bladder infection that landed her in the hospital for three weeks, then a series of small strokes. She bounced back from both, got her booster this week and immediately got another bladder infection.
I know of three other, much younger people who had severe reactions. I'm certain that most people don't report their adverse reactions. And that the CDC is covering up a large set of problems.
Completely agree. My own brother in law had anaphylactic shock and cannot take the second shot. He lives in SFO and is completely ostracized in his community, even though he has a Dr’s note that he had a deadly reaction.
I’m sorry about your mom 😢
My 69 year old mom just caved and took the first Moderna shot. She’s healthy, zero comorbidities, walks 7 miles a day ... but my husband and dad encouraged her to take it. I think what pushed her over the edge is making sure she remains free to travel by plane since that “privilege” seems to be closing for many of us 😩.

Serious Q: How can someone be pro-vaxx for anyone under 65?
